Notes:

I have been playing the violin since the age of five, and have several years of varied performing experience, highlights including playing as part of an emsemble at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, and working as a solo violinist, being hired for corporate events such as the International Trade Fair in Düsseldorf.

For the last four years, I have built a successful private teaching practice from my home in Gosforth, and am now relocating to the North Shields area. As well as teaching privately, I teach one on one lessons at Northern Music Centre, and am an upper strings tutor for In Harmony, a programme run by Sage Gateshead. I also enjoy leading group workshops, including working with Hexham Youth Folk Bands, and have in the past been a tutor for Sage Gateshead Folkworks Tuesdays. I aim to provide high quality teaching that is both affordable and accessible.

I push all my students, of all standards and ages, in all areas, while at all times maintaining a friendly and non-intimidating manner. I believe that almost everybody can play the violin well, provided they are given the right guidance, irregardless of innate ability. A strong belief in all my students, coupled with the constant goal directed nature of the lessons, makes for enjoyable, productive and efficient learning. Many parents have commented on the rapid speed at which their child is progressing, and excellent ABRSM results have been received.

In order to reach full potential, it is very important that students carry out self-directed practice, so I ensure that my students leave each lesson inspired by their own progress, so that they can continue practising in their own time. It is also crucial that students enjoy the music they are playing, and my varied influences (which include pop, folk, jazz, bluegrass, as well as classical) mean that I am able to offer students choices so that they can play music they are inspired by.

I also integrate aural training, music theory and improvisation into lessons as I believe all these skills are vitally important in developing all round musicianship in students.

I am fully DBS checked, and am happy to teach all levels of ability and all ages.
