Biography

I gained an Honours degree in music at Lancaster University and later, followed Postgraduate studies at Trinity College of Music. During this time I was awarded performance diplomas from London College of Music and Trinity College of Music in addition to a Fellowship in Music Education from the latter.

For over twenty years I lived in London, where I played violin and viola with a number of amateur orchestras, whilst running a successful teaching practice in and around SE London & Kent. I also ran regular workshop sessions for adult recorder players which I continued to direct until 2009.
Although I relocated to Newark on Trent in 2006, I continue to play with (and conduct) the London Recorder Orchestra.

These days I am a regular member (mostly playing viola) of Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Lincolnshire Philharmonia and Trent Chamber Academy

As a member of the Society of Recorder Players, I am regularly invited to conduct SRP branches across the UK.
I currently direct the Lincoln Music Workshop Recorder Group a small ensemble of adult players who meet regularly in North Hykeham and also give occasional performances in and around Lincoln.
I am also the director of the newly-formed East Midlands Recorder Orchestra

I continue to teach recorder and violin/viola privately in the Newark/Lincoln area and welcome enquiries from students of all ages and levels of experience.
