My name is Sophie. I have been playing guitar for 10 years now, it's something I'm incredibly passionate about! I have experimented with a huge variety of styles and genres across my journey so far. I have studied guitar and music throughout my educational journey, I have just recently left college, leaving me with an extended Level 3 Diploma in Guitar Performance at distinction* grade.
I have done a few grade exams with the Rockschool exam board, I am able to teach from the syllabus if this is of interest.
I have over 3 years worth of teaching experience with guitar. I really enjoy teaching guitar and music, I love to see others find their passion with the instrument, it's so rewarding to be able to help another person and see results.
I am predominantly an "electric" guitarist, although I have lots of experience with acoustic guitar skills, too. So I am happy to teach both electric and acoustic guitar!
Some of the styles that I work with and teach include, rock, pop, blues, funk, country, jazz and metal. I also offer beginner - intermediate bass guitar lessons.
Currently, I play guitar in a rock band, so if learning how to play within a band and with other musicians is what you're interested in, I can definitely offer a helping hand!
The style of my lessons really depends on each student, I want to make sure that the student is getting everything they can out of the session! I take some time to find out a bit about each student...what type of guitarist they want to be, what styles they want to learn, their influences, what they want to achieve from the lessons and where they want to be in the future. This is so I can determine the best type of skills to focus on and set the correct material to work on. The main aim of the sessions is to help the students grow into the guitarist they wish to be, with efficient and positive progression all along the way...it's all about having fun at the same time!
I am able to teach all ages! Age is just a number, it's never too early or too late to pick up the guitar...I'm always happy to help.
I offer lessons varying from half an hour to an hour, this can depend on age and ability. At any time, the lesson lengths can be changed to something that fits you!
If you're interested in having lessons with me, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
I hope to hear from you soon.
