Jakub Wycislik is a Polish cellist based in London and currently studying with Alfredo Piatti Chair of Cello Josephine Knight at the Royal Academy of Music. Jakub is active as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.

He was awarded many prizes at the international competitions in locations such as Dolny Kubin, Warsaw, Palmanova, Elk, Elblag. His latest achievements include third prize at the II International Gustav Mahler Cello Competition in Jihlava (2020), first prize at the 4th North International Music Competition in Stockholm (2019), and first prize at the Bach Competition in Krakow (2018).
One of his recent solo performances includes Édouard Lalo Cello Concerto in D minor with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk.

Jakub has participated in wide range of courses and masterclasses, including with Jens Peter Maintz, Philippe Muller, Colin Carr, Sung-Won Yang, Mario Brunello, Claus Reichardt, Kazimierz Michalik, Tomasz Strahl.

He has been the recipient of scholarships from the Royal Academy of Music, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, St Marylebone Educational Foundation and the Wolfson Foundation.

As an orchestral musician Jakub collaborated with the Czech Philharmonic, Silesian Chamber Orchestra, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra and Archetti Orchestra. He played under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson, Ryan Wigglesworth, Jac van Steen, Szymon Bywalec and Maciej Tomasiewicz.

In recent years, he has performed at prestigious concert halls around Europe, some of which are St Jamesís Church Piccadilly, Southwark Cathedral, The National Forum of Music in Wroclaw, the Concert Hall of The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) in Katowice, The National Opera in Warsaw, the Cracow and Silesian Philharmonic, the Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw, Teatro Gustavo Modena in Palmanova.

Jakub plays on a cello by Joseph Hill from 1772, kindly on loan to him from the Royal Academy of Music.
