"Richard has been teaching my daughter guitar at school and in the form of private lessons for almost two years. During this time she has progressed tremendously and performed admirably in music exams. She thoroughly enjoys her lessons with Richard. He possesses a unique blend of enthusiasm and fun, as well as a commitment to her developmental needs. In addition he encourages a disciplined approach to learning and practice and instils a desire to learn and develop her musical ability. Music should be fun, it should be creative and it should inspire. These are characteristics which are central to Richard's philosophy in teaching music. He is an excellent teacher, respected by our daughter and other children at school, I would recommend him unreservedly and will be sorry to see him go."

Rich (Mr Arthurs) has worked at Primrose Lane Primary School, an outstanding school, for five years initially teaching guitar in a range of musical styles and managing large groups of children effectively. He very quickly established himself as a very talented musician, an excellent teacher with a passion to enhance the lives of the children through music-making. Although he has continued to teach guitar, Rich has also developed other areas of our music curriculum. One of his successes has been to form several different bands with Year 6 children (comprising drums, keyboard, guitars, woodwind and vocals) using his own arrangements of a variety of songs to broaden their appreciation of different musical genres. He has then rehearsed with them to create really high quality performances. This has become a highlight for the children giving them so much confidence as well as a great experience of performing in a group. He has also been very involved with school productions and concerts, generously volunteering his time and expertise. He works really well as part of a team and is able to maintain his individuality whilst remaining committed and professional at all times. He has excellent relationships with all the children that he teaches and will be a significant loss to our music department.

"Rich taught me guitar for around four years and helped me progress with both exams and playing for fun. Lessons were always enjoyable and was more like playing guitar with a friend than being tutored. I loved every second of being taught by Rich and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
