Matthew Tosca - Violin (primary), Viola, Piano & Conducting (See additional subjects below) M.M. Orchestral Conducting; B.M. Violin Performance. I am an Orchestral Conductor and Violinist, originally from Tampa, Florida. This past November I moved to London, where I continue my career as an orchestral conductor and violin recitalist. I have started a recital series in Shoreditch alongside Scottish tenor, Charles Alexander MacDougall. I recently made my London conducting debut with the London Mozart Players.
In regards to my education, I entered the Bachelors of Music program at the Mannes College of Music in New York City in 2007, and graduated in May of 2011 with a Violin Performance degree, where I studied with esteemed pedagogue Sally Thomas. In 2009, I began the path of a double major, in studying Orchestral Conducting with Maestro David Hayes.
In 2012, after a year of directing a strings program at Philip Shore Elementary School for the Performing Arts, I entered the Master of Music program at the Mannes College of Music in Orchestral Conducting, and graduated in May of 2014.
The final year of my masters degree, I spent working as "Assistant Conductor in Residence" with The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra & Music Director JoAnn Falletta; with whom I made my professional debut, guest conducting Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance, op. 46 no. 1, in May of 2014.
