Diploma in Music
Instruments: Violin
Nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle)
Genre/Style(s): Folk/traditional, specialising in Scandinavian, English and French dance music
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

Lessons are tailored to an individual's needs. I aim to make them both relaxed and enjoyable. Using traditional tunes, I can either teach bowing/fingering, phrasing/interpretation and music theory, or we can play as a duet, building up a core repertoire, working on harmonies, chords and ensemble techniques. We can, of course, do both!
I always have sheet music available but you don't need to be a reader as I encourage people to try to play by ear. And for anyone experiencing discomfort when playing, I can also help with simple ergonomics.
I've played in string quartets and chamber orchestras, but these days I'm primarily a dance musician and regularly play for ceilidhs and Euro bals. I run mixed-ability workshops and music sessions around the country for adults who want to master a genre and style of music.
I also teach children from age seven upwards. (Parents are welcome to sit in during the lesson.) Playing folk music for fun can offer children a stress-free break from taking their classical grades.
Skype lessons available.
