Mrs Lisa Woods

I loved music from an early age, joining the primary school choir and learning to play the recorder as soon as I was old enough. At the age of 7 I started playing the flute and went on to learn the piano, guitar and alto saxophone. I played an active part in a variety of musical activities throughout my time at school, leading and accompanying ensembles.

I attended Goldsmiths College, University of London where I gained a BMus (Hons) Music Degree. After College I remained in London for several years and taught flute and piano lessons in a music school in Hertfordshire as well as working for an agency teaching instrumental lessons in students' homes in North London and South Hertfordshire.

Upon returning to the Westcountry I completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, Secondary Music) and gained experience of teaching classroom music in a Secondary School and a 6th Form College.

My performance experience includes playing the flute and piccolo with the Torbay Symphony Orchestra as well as working as an exam accompanist and Event Pianist.

My instrumental teaching experience includes teaching students across a wide age range, from 4 to 60 plus! I now teach individual flute and piano lessons as well as group recorder lessons from my home in the Abbotsbury area of Newton Abbot, using established tuition books along with my own arrangements of well known songs. I believe lessons should be fun and I include exercises and games to help build musicianship skills.

Please give me a call for an informal chat about instrumental lessons or to book a FREE Trial Lesson.
