I hope you find the following information useful....

I am a qualified guitar teacher withThe London College of Music. I have played guitar for 44years and have been teaching it for over 20years now. I teach electric or acoustic. All styles from rock, pop, folk and blues.
I am an [email protected] registered teacher . I have many years experience of teaching all ages and as a giging musician. I have experience of teaching guitar in schools for Shropshire Music Service for over 10 years. I now teach independently in four schools : Church Stretton Seconday, Longden Cof E, Condover C of E and Coleham Primary.
I also enjoy teaching adults as well. You are never too old to learn! I love the challenge of teaching a complete beginner! I am very patient! Many people come to me after trying to teach themselves or finding You tube lessons bewildering. You can study for exams or just for fun... I currently have a 99% pass rate with [email protected] London College of Music Exams which are held locally at Shrewsbury School three times a year.
I teach Popular Music theory and sight reading music notation, with and without guitar tablature. Guitarists are notoriously bad sight readers. It really is worth practising. It takes time and patience but the rewards are great.
All lessons are well structured and enjoyable! For the parents there is a fantastic comfortable waiting area for you with refreshments provided .(Sorry this is temp not availabe during the Corvid 19 crisis)
I can also teach parents and son/daughter together which can be fun!
I began to learn to play guitar at an early age and took lessons with the world class guitarist Cheryl Grice- Watterson. This I feel gave me a good grounding in understanding the learning process of the the guitar and the importance of reading music and understanding the music theory which relates to the guitar. I have taught many students over the past 15 years I have managed to get a few of my students to Grade 8 Distinction level which I am proud of. I am also very proud a particular student of mine who I taught in a local primary school when he was about 8 years old and then at from home until he was about 16 years old. Mr Dan Owen ....who you must see...he is brilliant and has made it big time...touring the world with a huge following. He has been nominated for acoustic act of 2017 by Acoustic Magazine.. I am very proud of him!!

I have worked with rock bands, acoustic trios, duos and ceilidh bands over the past few years. I have also played lead guitar in the following musicals: Summer Holiday, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Guys and Dolls, Singing in the Rain and Sweet Charity.
I can also play fiddle and teach mandolin! You can learn to sight read on the mandolin and enjoy many celtic/ Irish tunes. I can teach Bass up to about Grade 5. I can do minor repairs to guitars and restrings etc.
