Hi My Name is Rob Walker
I have played classical guitar since the age of 8 and after my education and training, I have carried on playing and teaching the classical guitar.
I first started teaching as a way of adding to my primary teachers wage in 1986 and built up a wide and loyal client base.
I then moved to the Caribbean for a year and then after moving back to Sheffield became a husband and father.
Throughout the years I have always played and taught classical guitar, sometimes to four people a week and sometimes to one or two.
I teach anyone from absolute beginners (never picked up a classical guitar before) to students who go to exams (if they want) or people who just love to learn to play new pieces from different composers. I think over the past 30 odd years, I have taught about 60 or 70 people.
I can teach on a weekly basis, fortnightly or even more than once a week if the client wishes… I can flexible around what people want.
I am happy teaching online through the cameras or in person.
It’s part of my day job to help people make the most positive use of the internet and it certainly makes a difference to how people learn to play the Classical Guitar. There is so much support out there from people across the world.
I would use the best materials out there to support a student on their journey. We can then decide as we go on which direction someone would like to take their playing… be it down a formal grade exam route which looks good on a CV or focusing on a particular style or composer or even looking at how we can move into different styles of guitar.
