Ms Betty-Ann Cook

I started piano lessons at the age of 10 and guitar lessons at the age of 14. After passing Grade 8 on Piano and taking my A levels in Music and English Literature, I then continued my studies at the Royal Academy or Music for four years as a first study pianist and second study classical guitarist. One of my firt teaching jobs was as a tutor for the Royal Academy of Music Junior Exhibitioners second study piano students - that was in 1975-1976. Since then I have worked in London and the South-East as a Pianoforte and Guitar teacher in schools and privately.

I have decades of experience in the real world of music as a professional pianist working as an accompanist for dance at colleges and universities. Other accomplishments involve being leader of choirs, musical director and performing as a soloist, in duos and as a band-member in the context of either pianist, guitarist or singer.

I have a unique teaching perspective due to the knowledge and experience gained in my lengthy musical collaboration with the other performing arts of dance and drama.

I am an arranger of music for guitar and piano, a well-seasoned improvisor and have created some compositions.
