Keeping Children Safe in Music is the latest in the EduCare's series of distance learning courses on child protection. The training programme uses short films to show a variety of good and bad practice examples, which will be available to watch online. It will help anyone teaching music to children gain a better understanding of their child protection responsibilities, and avoid situations that could lead to accusations of misconduct.

Highly skilled and communicative professional violinist, enthusiastic about educating, sharing and enabling others through music.


Katy has enjoyed teaching the violin to pupils of all ages and abilities for over 20 years, many of them receiving distinctions in their exams.
Enhanced DBS check and child protection/safe guarding course completed 2019. Member of MU and ESTA.

As a professional violinist Katy performs with ensembles across the country and was a member of an award winning string quartet for over 10 years. She also plays and records with bands.

Her passion for outreach and educational work has seen Katy work for the Live Music Now scheme, the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust and Music In Action.

With a love for collaborating with other artists and art forms, Katy has performed in several theatre productions...singing, playing bass guitar and percussion, using loop pedals and sharing the stage with puppets!
