Notes:
I am an enthusiastic musician as a performer, composer, arranger and teacher with the acoustic guitar as my main instrument. I have spent the last 10 years or so playing and performing with many folk bands, both nationally and internationally, mainly as an accompanist. My interests, however, extend to lead playing, both flat-picking and finger-picking, jazz, blues, classical, rock and bluegrass music, amongst others.
I also have a keen interest in music theory, including both jazz theory and classical theory. This can be taught as a subject in itself, to help with exams for example, or as part of instrumental lessons.
I am eager to share the skills and knowledge that I have learned over the years. My lessons can be tailored to suit the student, ranging from giving a general understanding of the guitar, through showing technique, chord shapes and theory, to more specific needs, such as repertoire, improvising, requested chord sequences or melodies, help with reading musical notation and tab etc.
Lessons can be taught either by ear or through the use of musical notation or tablature. Either way, I hope for my lessons to be relaxed, enjoyable and adaptable to suit the needs of the student.
