BIOGRAPHY:

Tanja Schnitzer is half English, half German and grew up in Athens, Greece. In 2006 she moved to England to study a Bachelorís degree in Psychology at the University of Hull. After graduating in 2009 she moved to Birmingham, gaining a scholarship to study a Masterís degree in Music Performance and Pedagogy at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Tanja studied saxophone with Naomi Sullivan and Mark OíBrien. During her studies she continued working at Baskerville School, a special day and residential school for students with autistic spectrum disorders and complex difficulties. Tanja also began working at Cherry Oak School, a primary SEN school in Birmingham, in 2010 as a music workshop leader whilst also collaborating with orchestras (such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra of the Swan) on educational music projects and workshops. On completing her Masters in Performance and Pedagogy this year Tanja has been awarded the Performance and Pedagogy Prize. After her recent move to London, Tanja continues to teach music theory and saxophone, and has also continued to collaborate with music organisations, assisting in work with the Royal College of Musicís Performance Science department. She is now pursuing her growing interest in the arts sector with her passion lying in music education.
