Alison attended the RSAMD Junior department before completing an undergraduate degree at the now RCS, studying with Andrea Gajic and Gina McCormack. During her undergraduate degree, Alison studied Community Music, working with a variety of groups including nurseries, schools and hospitals. She taught violin and viola for the RCS outreach initiative, Musicworks, at the Dumfries centre. In 2013 Alison moved to Aberdeen to undertake the PGDE in Primary Education, which she passed with merit. She then completed her probationary year in primary education with Fife Council. Alison enjoys teaching in many forms and has spent time in the US as a summer camp counsellor (teaching music) and in Italy as a tutor of English as an additional language. She has also tutored and provided pastoral care on many residential courses within the UK. In the session beginning August 2015 Alison has undertaken a variety of roles. She has played for a variety of amateur dramatic operas and musicals, as well as being appointed principal 2nd violin of the Scottish Sinfonia. She has also taught part time as a primary teacher for Glasgow City Council and as a Musician (teaching violin, viola and general musicianship) for Sistema Scotland's project Big Noise Raploch. She looks forward to the coming 2016-17 session where she will lead and participate in a range of projects, performance and teaching/community based, across Edinburgh and Fife.
