Notes:
As the Clarinet Teaching Artist for In Harmony Opera North and the course leader for the Windstruments Summer School 'Woodwind Cafe', I am and experienced and enthusiastic teacher and performer.
I have a Master of Music degree at RWCMD and Bachelor of Music at University of Birmingham, during which time I was also educated abroad at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, U.S.A. My teaching philosophy involves equal focus on musical and technical elements of clarinet playing in lessons. I believe that it is important to build good instrumental technique from the beginning of the learning process in order to enable the student to make a beautiful sound, as this will enable them to get the most pleasure out of their music making. Most importantly, though, music-making should be fun at any level, and I view it as my job to inspire the student and make the learning process enjoyable!
Whilst at the University of Cincinnati I was educated in teaching fundamental clarinet technique to beginner students and I am delighted to work with both young children and adult learners.
