Helen Wilson runs a private teaching practice in central Brighton where her students receive qualified and enthusiastic piano tuition. Sound technical and theoretical grounding; attention to stylistic issues; development of expression, and of historical and cultural awareness; and general musicianship, are all integral to her well-rounded and thoughtful approach. Lessons are tailored to the individual student's needs. Helen teaches a wide range of people from young, aspiring professional musicians to retired, enthusiastic amateurs. Dedicated students of all ages and abilities are welcomed. Studentsí exam pass rate is 100% since 2005 and many of her students have gone on to receive music scholarships at top independent schools or admission to Londonís best music colleges.

Also offered are one-off technical assessments, mock exams, pre-exam/recital assessments, and advisory consultations regarding technique, repertoire or issues concerning the prevention of tension in performance.

Helen is a member of the Royal Musical Association, the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and is a member and Regional Chair of the European Piano Teachers Association (UK)- Promoting excellence in piano teaching and performance in the UK- and a member of WPTA (World Piano Teachers' Association).

Alongside teaching, Helen Wilson enjoys a successful career as a performer and composer; she plays regularly throughout Europe and Asia at major venues and festivals. She has released two albums, to critical acclaim, and has recently performed live on BBC Radio 3. Helen has a wealth of professional performing experience and a particular interest in 20th/21st century American piano music and also in Indian classical music (a research area in which she is currently pursuing a PhD).
Helen attended the Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School and continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, the University of Sussex and SOAS, University of London. Her teachers have included Heather Slade-Lipkin, Darla Crispin and Peter Feuchtwanger.
