Katie holds a doctorate in music, is a dedicated music teacher with seventeen years of experience, and an accomplished performer.

She specialises in designing bespoke, personalised courses in piano, harpsichord, conducting, history, theory and aural skills for students of all ages and levels, focusing on building skills and problem solving abilities as a way to build enjoyment and confidence.

Lessons can either be held at the student's home (Zones 1-3), or at Jaques Samuels Pianos (W2 2DZ - this includes a small added fee for room hire). Rates are negotiable for those with restricted incomes.

With years of experience in preparing students for ABRSM exams, Katie has an established record of success, with a 100% pass rate and the majority of her students obtaining Merit or Distinction. She also designs custom programs tailored for those who prefer not to do formal exams.

Her teaching is informed by seventeen years of experience as pianist, a chamber musician and an accompanist, as well as her work as a university lecturer in performance, music theory and music history. She also specialises in playing and coaching historical music, and is an active freelance harpsichordist in London.
