I now also offer ONLINE LESSONS, to help during the Covid-19 crisis.
With more than 30 years' experience, I have taught piano, theory and composition in Oxford since 1997. My students range from beginners to advanced, including children, university students, music teachers - as well as lecturers at the University.
I am happy to travel to your home for lessons.
I take a holistic view of teaching, allowing each student to express their own personality through the music and keys. In order to do so effectively, technique and an understanding of musical issues are important - and this forms a part of each lesson. I hope this doesn't sound too serious - we usually have a lot of fun too!
In addition to teaching, I have performed widely, including recitals at the Holywell Music Room and Sheldonian Theatre. 2 CDs of mine are available on iTunes and Spotify, including one of my own compositions. In addition, I have also lectured at the Music Faculty in Oxford and written programme notes for Deutsche Grammophon and the Music Review.
Reviews:
‘An amazing variety of sonorities and forward momentum’ – Clavier
‘The venerable Holywell Music Room has a long history of hosting fine musicians and this evening was no exception’ – Daily Info
‘A very expressive performance. He kept the audience riveted…’ - Cherwell
