Biography

I attended Homerton College, Cambridge where I qualified to teach English and Music to the 7-18 age range. I also did a B.Mus.(London University) and L.T.C.L., am a member of the I.S.M. and am CRB checked.

Over the last 25 years, I have had experience as Head of Music at a number of schools, have taught individual Piano, Singing, Theory and Musicianship at Independent schools and have educated individuals from 3-80 years of age in Singing, Piano, Theory, General Musicianship techniques and Composition from beginner to diploma level.

As a creative musician, I enjoy composing and am currently working on choral and solo instrumental pieces - including some for organ. I am available for bookings in schools and other venues for creative workshops in Singing and in Improvisatory techniques.

I always give free assessments and plan courses specifically with the needs of the individual in mind. My large portfolio of examination successes drawn from recent years include students of primary school age who have gained Grade 5 and above and those of early teens who have gained Grade 8 in Music Theory as well as in Piano and Singing.

Repeatedly, it has been proved that Music, as the most holistic subject, has helped individuals to achieve their full potentials in all subject areas. Learning is fun and very fulfilling. I am happy to fast-track students for one-off Theory of Music examinations (e.g.Grade 5) if their instrumental teachers do not have time to do so. I also give support for GCSE & A level -and provide advice stemming from my work as an examiner for different boards.
