My approach to music tuition is based around four main pillars:

Playing an instrument - I will work with the student of the course of our lessons to build up the skill of playing the guitar. In my opinion, this is an incredibly valuable skill, especially for children. Research shows that exposure to music can improve children's ability to learn, as well as memory, cognitive development, coordination, dexterity and expressive ability.

Musical theory and aural skills - Alongside the technical skills that come with playing the guitar, we will learn about how to use music theory, how to read music, use aural skills and more. These go hand-in-hand with playing an instrument, and are required knowledge should the student at some point think about taking graded exams.

Engaging with music and culture - There is a great amount of culture within music, and we will explore this in the lessons as we talk about and play different kinds of music and find ways of expressing ourselves through those.

Positive learning environment - Above all, I find it incredibly important that a student enjoys their music lessons and has fun. I strive to make learning music the best experience for anyone that tries it, and will work towards any studentís specific needs or requirements to ensure they are getting the most that they can out of our lessons.
