Notes:
I am a Lancaster based musician, tutor and performer with several years experience. My ultimate aim is to pass on a passion for music to every pupil and make their learning an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
My last position was curriculum leader of music at a large secondary school and I therefore have extensive experience in tutoring at all levels of tertiary music education. I left this position only to take up a full time Masters qualification in vocal performance (opera) but still currently work at the same school part-time, as a peripatetic vocal tutor whilst I complete my Master of Music qualification.
As a singer I have performed at the BBC Proms twice (both times involving World Premiers of newly commissioned works by Orlando Gough and James Macmillan), as well as alongside Christina Aguilera at the EMTV Music Awards. I also have much experience on concert and recital platforms having performed works such as Handel's Messiah, Schubert's Mass in Ab and Mozart's Requiem amongst other works. Furthermore, I also have experience in singing operatic roles such as Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia, Benjamin Britten) and Angelica (Orlando, Handel) amongst others.
As an instrumentalist I have experience of teaching beginner upper strings (violin/viola) and have played in several orchestras, including the Lancaster Priory orchestra.
In terms of safety, I am CRB cleared and am also registered with the General Teaching Council. I am willing to teach from my own house or to teach at houses of pupils within reasonable driving distance of my own home - please contact me for further details.
Should you have any questions or would like a trial lesson in voice, piano, GCSE/A-level tuition or Music Theory, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
