Biography

One of my very first memories is standing between elder's feet and looking up at singers, crammed in a gleaming Vickers caravan, probably around 3 yrs old.

With my motherís life-long encouragement, I have been singing ever since. The strong, Traveller way of singing has been a central influence on my own style. My wider family roots lie in the West and North of Ireland: Kerry; Clare; Galway; Donegal; Derry/Londonderry and into Tyrone. Family connections to the Gaeltacht have meant I always loved Sean-nós singing from Connemara.

I have performed Traditional irish repetoire at folk festivals, concerts and Summer schools, including Whitby, Priddy, Birmingham, Bath and Bristol.

I have a life long experience of hearing and being part of traditional song gatherings, with song-sharing, learning and performance.

I provide song, music and also calling for ceilidhs, weddings and parties as well as leading traditional sessions and performing concerts. I am an experienced singer at wakes.

Other Performance experience:

Musical Theatre, Operetta, Dance, Mime and Street Theatre
Pentecostal Church Gospel, Barbershop Choir and Blues Group.

I also play some traditional Irish fiddle, penny whistle and accompany with guitar in non-standard DADGAD tuning to a good standard. I am also an All-Ireland finalist and All-Britain silver medallist in traditional drum (Bodhrán) which I also teach in Bristol.
