Nick is a saxophonist, composer and educator currently based in Leeds where he has recently completed his studies at the Leeds College of Music. Rewarded with the ‘George Murphy’ Jazz Saxophone Prize 2011, Nick graduated with a BA in Jazz and continues to develop an already growing profile in the UK. During his time at the college he studied under the guidance of Jim Corry (Haggis Horns) and Joel ...Purnell with additional support from a distinguished faculty consisting of well-established musicians/lecturers, Jamil Sheriff, Jannis Pavlidis, Rob Mitchell and Jamie Taylor. <br />

Current projects include Nick’s quartet and the up and coming Reggae/Hip Hop band ‘Nubiyan Twist’ ( who are currently gigging around the UK to promote their forthcoming album. Nick and the band are currently working with a number of singers including Ruby Wood (Submotion Orchestra), Sabira Jade (DJ Vadim) and Amnesty International to promote the album ‘Untold Songs’ in celebration of female musicians and the charities’ 50th anniversary of human rights campaigning. In addition to this Nick and a group of musicians from LCM and West Yorkshire are collaborating with the prestigious musician/composer and educator, Pete Churchill to perform in front of 50,000 people at the special ‘2012 Olympic Torch Relay’ event at Temple Newsam.<br />
<br />
With the ambition to become a qualified music therapist Nick has been taking part in a number of community music projects over the last couple years. This has included running music workshops for nursery and reception children and voluntary work at the Orpheus Centre, set up by Richard Stilgoe OBE. At the charity Nick worked within a team of musicians and support workers to facilitate a variety of music projects for adults with a wide range of learning disabilities. Nick also had the opportunity to work with the widely renowned bass player Herbie Flowers to run a weeklong Rock music project. <br />
<br />
A confident and friendly educator Nick is currently available for one to one saxophone tuition and workshops. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome.
