Biography

Educated at Trinity College of Music, Huddersfield University and the Conservatoire C Munch, Paris, Helen is a qualified teacher and professional flautist. Helen has worked as a specialist flute teacher for a number of schools including Rastrick High School, Dixon's City Academy, Ashville College and Benenden school. She is also experienced in teaching Whole Class Ensemble (Wider Opportunities / First Access) lessons in primary schools and currently delivers WCE programmes with Nottingham Music Service.

Helen is experienced in teaching secondary classroom music, music theory, aural, singing and musicianship lessons.

Helen is an active performing musician, and has played with orchestras such as London Concert Orchestra, Manchester Concert Orchestra and St Paul's Sinfonia. As a soloist she has given recitals at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and at various London venues. Concerto performances include works by Nielson, Thea Musgrave and Mozart, while Helen's chamber music work has involved collaboration with the BBC Concert Orchestra and a Radio 3 broadcast. In addition to the flute, Helen has played clarinet and saxophone with a number of theatre pit orchestras and big bands. She was organist and choirmaster at St Paul's church, Drighlington and has recently taken up the baroque flute.
