Sarah graduated with a first class degree and performance diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University where she studied the flute as Henry Fielding Scholar. She studied with Richard Davies (BBC Philharmonic), Linda Verrier and Jo Boddington (Hallé) with masterclasses from Michael Cox, Daniel Pailthorpe and Keith Bragg.

Sarah is a committed chamber musician, and has studied with the Danel String Quartet, Craig Ogden and Hansjörg Schellenberger. She is a member of The Sterling Trio (flute, clarinet and piano) with whom she has performed throughout Britain since 2006, including giving concerts for Leeds International Festival, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and St. James’ Piccadilly. The Trio have been selected as artist for Making Music 2013-14, finalists in the Tunnell Trust Music Club Awards Scheme 2011-12 and 2013-14, shortlisted for the Park Lane Group Young Artists Concerts New Year Series 2012, shortlisted for site specific exhibition at the Royal Opera House 2010 and finalists with UK Young Artists 2010.

Sarah also plays in the Da Capo Duo (flute and classical guitar) which, since 2003, has given over 100 concerts for many of Britain’s music clubs and societies including Oundle International Festival and Lake District Summer Music. Between 2010-11 the Duo was also part of the prestigious Countess of Munster’s Recital Scheme.

Freelance work frequently includes performing with music theatre companies including Action Transport Theatre Company, the New Vic Youth Theatre, the Arden Theatre School, Oldham Theatre Workshop, Una Voce Opera and Skipton Camerata as well as work with larger organisations including the BBC Summer Proms.

Sarah is dedicated to using music as a means of creative expression, and is a soloist and animateur with the Concordia Foundation ‘building bridges through music and the arts’, and performs regularly as a soloist with Music in Hospitals. She also works in schools, hospitals, hospices, care homes, prisons and other community venues, as well as teaching throughout the North-West.
