Biography

I have been playing drums for almost 20 years and have had the pleasure of working both abroad and throughout the UK with a variety of musicians and performers including: Cilla Black; David Hasselhoff; Pamela Anderson; Paul O'Grady; Brian Blessed; Jennifer Elliosn; Ruby Wax; Anita Dobson; Jerry Springer; and many more.

I have 7 years experience delivering drum kit and percussion lessons to individuals and small groups of students and I have helped young musicians prepare for Rock School, Trinity/Guildhall and Trinity Rock & Pop grades as well as ABRSM music theory.

Working with Primary School children as part of the Wider Opportunities programme has allowed me to experience music making with younger children. My responsibilities as part of a team of musicians have included leading singing and percussion learning activities as well as direct whole class ensemble performances.

As a Secondary Music teacher I have continued to develop leadership skills and successfully coordinated a variety of ensembles such as Jazz Band, Samba Bateria and Pop/Rock bands during which time I have been responsible for leading rehearsals, organising and arranging repertoire and preparing for public performances.

I can effectively use technology to prepare learning resources and confidently facilitate those who wish to create their own music using either Garage Band, Logic Pro, Cubase, Reason and/or Sibelius. I amenable to deliver lessons via the internet using Skype and/or FaceTime.

I am able to build positive relationships with students of all ages and inspire them to truly reach their potential by demonstrating the highest level of musicianship. I can confidently deliver instrumental lessons and music making activities that use percussion or voice with clear aims and expectations, consistently tailoring practical learning that meets the need of each individual student.

I believe every student has potential and I have their welfare at heart. I am fortunate to have been taught by positive and influential teachers and have subsequently devoted much of my life to the pursuit of both playing and learning about music. I have the necessary ambition, dedication, sense of humour and positive energy required to be a suitable tutor and would welcome the positive challenges one faces when working with budding instrumentalists.

I believe my talents and experience make me a suitable instrumental and music theory teacher and I sincerely look forward to hearing from you!
