Notes:

Hi, I'm Alex and I'm a professional Cellist and Cello teacher based in Leeds! I teach from home or at your location and am passionate about educating at all levels, beginner, intermediate or advanced. Whether you are just learning for fun, picking up a new hobby, or aspiring to be a professional Cello player, I will be able to help guide you through your goals whilst developing your playing in a fun and personally tailored way.

I graduated from Leeds College of Music with a BA (Hons) Music (Combined) in Cello and Pop Vocals in 2014 and since then have enjoyed a varied career including performance, composition, tutition, arranging and music management.

As a session Cellist, I have performed or recorded all over the world with artists such as Paolo Nutini, Annie Lennox, Liam Gallagher, Tom Odell, Little Mix, Mumford and Sons, Paloma Faith and Enya, as well as performing at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and recording studios; the Royal Albert Hall, Abbey Road and The O2 Arena. My TV and Radio appearances include, including “Later... with Jools Holland”, The Graham Norton Show, The X Factor and the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and I have performed for many luxury corporate brands including BMW, Jaguar and Burberry.

I want to help people enjoy more music through their interest in the Cello and it's many different capabilities, as well as working on musicality and ensemble playing - which is what I know makes learning an instrument more challenging, but also more rewarding and fun!

I usually teach peripatetically, visiting most of my pupil's homes or having them visit me for lessons, and am also experienced in providing group lessons or workshop-style tuition with other string instruments for ensemble learning.

I am very flexible with my teaching style and understand that everyone has their own pace and goals - I am patient and understanding and will always, first and foremost, make sure you are developing your skills in a way which is encouraging, constructive, and keeping you engaged with the instrument. I am very open and will always take on suggestions for direction/learning if a pupil has a particularly keen interest in one aspect of the Cello or another.
