Biography

Hi! My name is Wesley and I am a music Tutor in the Carlton area of Nottingham.

I was born in South Africa in 1993 and have done a lot of travelling with music.

I learned how to play guitar when I was 10 years old at an orphanage in India on one of the trips I did. This kickstarted my musical career and I have been passionate about music ever since.

When I went to secondary school in South Africa, the school I went to was very competitive in the area of music. I was asked to perform in several fields at the All Africa Student Convention two years in a row to compete with over 2000 students across the continent. I performed a vocal solo, duet, trio, quartet and small ensemble and came first both years. I also did a guitar solo where I came second. The winners of the convention were then invited to compete in the International Student Convention in New York, America. In total I received 8 US Nominations across both years.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to go due to finances.

After secondary school I decided to study music, majoring in vocal performance. This was a great experience and I have many incredible memories! I finished studying and received a qualification with Merit.

During and after this time I have been giving guitar and vocal lessons and have loved every minute of it. It's a great privilege watching people improve in their musical abilities and helping people pass their grades!

I moved back to the UK in 2012 and have been here ever since teaching part time and working with youth and Children the rest of the time.

It will be a privilege working with you and I look forward to meeting you soon!
