Notes:

Developing as a musician is more important as well as more satisfying than progressing quickly through the grades on an instrument, although that is certainly a great motivator for children an adults alike and something I do support. I believe in developing this overall musicianship, including listening skills, understanding harmony, simple improvising and simple composition in line with the stage of learning of the pupil. This is something I never had when I was learning and I have since come to see the benefits looking beyond the set pieces in terms of my own musical journey. I am a trained music teacher and welcome pupils of any age and background and my training and work as a music therapist also enables me to work effectively with children and adults with learning or developmental disabilities or those recovering from brain injury.
