I've been a musician for as long as I can remember.. Originally starting off as an orchestral violinist, I then moved on to the piano which is a brilliant instrument to give you a firm understanding of music theory and an appreciation for a wide range of music. I then developed a strong passion for guitar, and playing live, which brings with it another range of different musical skills. More recently, I have become a ukulele player which is an increasingly popular instrument at the moment in the UK with both children and the older generation. I think there's a real value as a music teacher in being a multi-instrumentalist as it reaffirms your own knowledge in a variety of contexts, and joining all these dots helps convey thoughts to your students in bigger, stronger ways. You are able to draw upon more examples to illustrate key points.

I've been teaching music for over a decade in a variety of settings; music studios, working from home, music venues e.g. Sage Gateshead. I've also got a strong career background in education and have worked for an exam (NCFE) for 6 years. I'm therefore passionate about good quality learning and education standards.

Lastly, I firmly believe that learning music has to be enjoyable, at the end of the day. Otherwise, what is the point? Having gone through a range of music tuition in life myself, I'm keen to draw upon my own experiences to be a teacher who is patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and of course, fun!
