Simon Lumby studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, having been a junior student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Holding Diplomas in Piano, Organ and Singing performance, he also holds degrees in Music (history and musicology) as well as having over 25 years of teaching and performing experience.
He is now available for private tuition in piano, organ, singing and music theory. He is currently coaching a number of students for their GCSE or A’ Level Music exams.
He combines his ‘know-how’ and passion for teaching with a keen interest in the individual student’s own musical aspirations.
Simon has a fun, thorough and student-focused approach to teaching, designing his lessons around his students’ musical interests and ambitions.
Many of Simon's pupils have gone on to make careers in professional music - be that in the world of 'classical' music or on the West End Stage. Simon's pupils have also had much success at recent Associated Board Exams and Diplomas, many achieving distinctions in the upper Grades.
He has an enthusiasm for chamber music and is an empathetic accompanist of students taking Associated Board and Trinity exams.
