Francesca Fargion was born in London in 1992. She studied music at Goldsmiths University, and graduated with a 1st class honours in 2015. She then went on to do postgraduate studies in piano performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where her teachers were Laura Roberts and Peter Bithell. She has also performed in master classes with Boris Bermann, Julian Jacobson, and Danny Driver. She is also studying privately with South African concert pianist Tessa Uys. Recent solo recitals include the Foundling Museum and Deptford Town Hall.

She also has a keen engagement with contemporary music, collaborating with several young composers at both institutions, and has performed works by renowned English composer, Chris Newman, in Hasting’s, London and Bologna. She has been a member of a Six Piano’s ensemble, based in London, which performed works by Steve Reich, Conlon Nancarrow and Graham Fitkin. She recently travelled to Hamburg and Beirut with Berlin based dance company, DANCE ON – where she performed at the Kampnagel theatre and the important contemporary dance festival, BIPOD. She has also performed in the Music We'd like to Hear series, in a concert recorded by the BBC in summer of 2017.

I think it is important to teach my students to read music as well as play. This will help them to gain independence and understanding of the music, as well as being able to learn more music.

I also think it is important to work on musicianship - for example aural skills, and rhythmic accuracy. I try to incorporate this into lessons- either through short exercises, or in relation to the pieces they are working on. I also incorporate elements of technical work into lessons- even in young children and beginners. I think it is essential to have a few technical exercises to work on alongside the pieces they are learning.

I try to find different ways of approaching pieces, to help the student gain a better understanding of the music they are playing. Whatever level the student is at, they must be able to listen and understand the sounds they are making as music. I am happy to work on all genres of music.
