Bachelor of Music (Jazz piano), Australian National University

For the past 4 years I have been teaching at Braemar College in Victoria, Australia. My duties there included providing one-to-one, and group lessons to students ages 10 to 18 in Voice and Piano. Also preparing for and accompanying students in final year exams for Jazz and Contemporary music. I also provided Theory and Aural skills training, ran the contemporary choir and accompanied singers for soirees, assemblies etc. Previous to that I was teaching privately for 6 years where I taught from beginner level through to professional development, ages 6 through 65.

I've experienced first hand the frustrations of learning an instrument and the ability to sing well. However, with the right teacher you can learn some very cool things about music, and improve your abilities and add new levels of joy and fulfilment of the music. It's a win-win. I believe that anyone can in fact play and appreciate music on a deeper level, and that understanding the language of music is inherit within, we often just require guidance.
Instruments: Voice:
Singing is awesome. Singing should be fun, but singing exercises can be boring - duh... I make my own backing tracks, so you can sing along with your warm up, just by turning up the volume and singing along. I also record your lessons which you get to keep to monitor your progress and ensure you understand the information. From physiology and technique, performance confidence, developing musicality, how to approach vocal recording, writing and performing originals, working on crazy vocal sounds or just have a sing song, I know I can show you some cool things about your voice, and how to improve it. I have been singing and accompanying singers professionally for 10 years, and can also provide backing tracks that suit the specific range of your voice. I won't force repertoire on you unless you need a song to sing. Sing the songs you love, and learn how to make them sound better!

I have a Bachelor in Jazz Piano and that is my background. I teach piano for fun and enjoyment. You don't have to be amazing at an instrument to be able to play songs. I can show you how to play songs at your level, and we'll work from there. I'll ensure you understand music in a way that is clear and easy, and go at your pace. If you read music, great! if you don't I can teach you - even if you think you can't learn itů Beginners get to play musically straight away, and we'll study all important aspects of piano playing including music theory, technique, rythmn, aural skills, reading music, groove and feel.

I also write and produce songs for students based on their level and interest in certain genres, this fee is incorporated into the lesson cost for most cases.
