Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, I have been working as a professional singer for over ten years for some of the UK's most prestigious opera companies. I hold a BMus(hons) in classical singing from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, an MA from the Royal Academy of Music and was a member of the Royal Academy Opera School, where I received my Advanced Diploma in Opera.

Whether you have aspirations to be the next Pavarotti or Kristin Chenoweth, can't hold a tune in a bucket or would just like to be more confident in projecting the alto line in your choral society, I would love to help you find your voice. I am passionate about singing and how it can be used as a tool to improve self-confidence, physical and mental health. I place an emphasis on finding a healthy singing technique and on the study of the text - the stories or the poetry. I like to give all my students some grounding in a classical technique - if you can get that right, you can sing anything! I am happy to explore musical theatre and jazz as well as classical music.

In addition, I specialist in teaching piano to children and place a great emphasis on finding out who that child is as a musician, through movement, singing, drawing and games as well as tinkling the ivories! I have experience teaching a number of students with learning difficulties, specifically children with autism, in individual as well as group settings.

I am happy to teach:

Singing - adults - beginners to advanced/conservatoire standard
- children - from 11 years old (younger students can be considered by arrangement - please do not hesitate to call me to discuss your child as I am only too happy to give advice on when a child should or should not start private vocal tuition)

Piano - adults and children - beginner to intermediate (grade V)

Please don't hesitate to call me with any questions you may have. I teach from my home in Putney.

Whether you are studying singing for pleasure, for school exams, following the ABRSM syllabus, university and conservatoire scholarship and entrance auditions or if you just want to gain a greater confidence and understanding of your voice, I will work with you to find out what your goals are and how we can work together to achieve them. I focus on building a flexible and grounded classical technique which should give you freedom to explore all kinds of repertoire in a relaxed and enjoyable way. I work with my students to give them the tools to become happier, more independent singers; a larynx is for life!

N.B. I offer discounts for block bookings and for members of the military.
