Genre/Style(s): Jazz
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I have over ten years of teaching experience in a range of settings from whole class to one to one lessons. I enjoy teaching at all levels, from total beginner through to advanced and always tailor my lessons to suit the needs and interests of my students. My DBS check is up-to-date.

I teach many different styles of music, including classical and ABRSM graded exams (I have a 100% pupil pass rate) but I specialize in jazz and improvised music. I studied jazz sax at Birmingham Conservatoire and teach a weekly workshop on behalf of Sheffield Jazz.

I have written a book called "In the Gap! Fun Improvisation for young Musicians", that introduces creative music at beginner level. I have used this resource to deliver teacher training to music hubs across the country. I have also developed a series of resources by commission.

I am currently part of the team that runs the award winning Jazz at the Lescar, a weekly club night bringing the best improvised music to Sheffield. I also help to organize and develop pop-up gigs and festivals across the city.

I am a performing musician and am currently involved with a wide range of projects, from acoustic music and spoken word to free jazz.

My lessons are fun, creative and tailored to you. I make sure that my pupils feel relaxed and comfortable when learning so they can build their confidence alongside their musical skills.
