In association with
Mr George Rowley

I am an experienced performer and teacher of piano, looking for pupils in the West Midlands area. As a teacher, I have gained a wealth of experience working in a number of educational capacities and with a wide variety of people including young children, the elderly and those with special needs. I am happy to teach people of all ages and abilities and thoroughly believe that learning an instrument is something to be enjoyed! I have in addition entered many pupils into ABRSM piano exams with a 100% pass rate – none of my pupils having achieved below a merit.

Educational Background:

I started piano lessons at the age of 7 in Kidderminster (my hometown), giving my first public performance in Bristol, aged 9, for which I won first prize at the Technics National Music Festival. I later received a scholarship to the Junior Conservatoire in Birmingham to work with Magdalena Nasidlak, before embarking on my undergraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Whilst at RWCMD, I was accepted to study on an ERASMUS exchange programme at the prestigious Hannover Hoschschule für Musik under Professor Christopher Oakden, before graduating with a first class honours degree in 2015. I have since pursued studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire from where I graduated with the highest Distinction among all graduates, winning the course prize for my master's degree. Most recently I have been a pupil of professor László Borbély while on a full scholarship to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.

Performing Career:

Throughout my career, I have developed a wide range of repertoire. This spans from the well-known works of Bach, Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin, to giving premières of pieces by contemporary composers. As a pianist, I have performed professionally throughout the country and abroad in both solo and collaborative recitals, including appearances at the Winchester Festival, the Franz Liszt Memorial Hall, the Holywell Rooms and the Liddell Concert Series. In addition to this, I have participated in masterclasses with pianists such as Nikolai Demidenko, Freddy Kempf, Steven Osbourne, Natalia Trull and Peter Donohoe and have reached the final stages of many competitions including the intercollegiate Beethoven competition, the Ian Stoutzker Prize and the RWCMD Concerto Competition. Most recent successes include winning second prize at the Brighton Concerto Competition, and being awarded the highly coveted ‘Weingarten Scholarship’, for a fully funded year of study at the Franz Liszt Academy.

Teaching Style:

My teaching style is always tailored to the specific needs of my pupils, however I am very approachable (not scary!), passionate about what I do and always strive to offer teaching of the absolute highest quality. Learning music is fun, healthy and stimulating - what's not to love?!
