Child Protection Course:
Completed Educare child protection training course. (more)
Keeping Children Safe in Music is the latest in the EduCare's series of distance learning courses on child protection. The training programme uses short films to show a variety of good and bad practice examples, which will be available to watch online. It will help anyone teaching music to children gain a better understanding of their child protection responsibilities, and avoid situations that could lead to accusations of misconduct.

Instruments: Piano
Genre/Style(s): Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I am a qualified piano teacher based in Gillingham, Kent with a Honours degree in Music from the University of Huddrsfield. I am also a member of the Musicians Union.
I am happy to teach learners of any age.
If you have a child who wants to learn or if you are an adult wishing to build on what you learned in the past or even to start from scratch, please contact me.
I am currently teaching around fifteen learners; my youngest learner is a 6-year old and my oldest is in her early twenties.
I offer a free consultation session and an opportunity to confer with other learners or their parents before any financial arrangements are made.
My teaching emphasises principles of musicianship including sound technique as well as development of self-discipline, musical imagination and performance skills.
I provide tuition in music theory as required by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and I encourage all my learners to enter the ABRSM exams since these offer an reliably independent view of each learnerís progress. However, I consider it important also to help all learners to see their music making in a wider social context, giving them the opportunity to develop as performers and enter the local music festivals.
In a recent Medway Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, one of my learners received the trophy for "the best performance by a Junior performer in Music or Speech, or Drama."
I consider child protection to be of the utmost importance in my professional work. I have taken and completed the NSPCC Child Protection Course. All my teaching takes place in my home and all children who enter my home for piano lessons must be accompanied by an adult who will be expected to observe the lesson.
