I have been playing guitar for 15 years and have always loved playing music. I currently live in Kingston Upon Thames and work part time at the local college in the music department.

Outside of the college I play in a band which gigs quite regularly in London and around the country. I currently own 6 guitars and a ukulele! (So I would be happy to provide an additional guitar if necessary for a student.)

I have my ABRSM Music Theory Certificate up to grade 3.

In the past I have worked with children at Church Langton Primary School in Leicestershire teaching them basic guitar skills. I also worked independently with an SEN child to teach him guitar. I have also taught friends and relatives casually.

I currently work as a music technician at Kingston College where I have taken composition lessons for the students.

My approach to teaching is always rooted in finding enjoyment from playing and I feel that practice should never be a chore. Once I had picked up the guitar when I was 14 I immediately began to play the songs I loved and never wanted to put it down. I easily played for an hour a day without thinking about it and I find this is the best way to learn.

Beginning with the basics (tuning, picking and simple chords) I like to find out early on from my students what sort of songs they wish to learn. This gives us a foundation for learning and goals to aim for. I encourage my students to begin learning simple musical theory as I feel it is important to every musician and will aid them in the future.
