Gisela is a multifaceted musician with a principal background in piano and piano accompaniment. She also works as a singer and teacher of various musical subjects.
After her undergraduate studies (Piano with side subject Cello) in Frankfurt and her postgraduate diploma (Piano solo) in Weimar, Gisela obtained a MMus in Accompaniment at the Guildhall School for Music and Drama.
In 2011 Gisela started performing solo as a singer and subsequently studied singing privately with Jessica Cash (retired professor of the GSMD, whom she still sees for occasional lessons.
In April 2015, Gisela started working with Baluji Shrivastav, as pianist for his production "Sohini and Mahival", which was performed in May 2015 at the Southbank at the Alchemy festival.
As a freelance accompanist, Gisela plays for students of the City University and other music colleges.
She regularly accompanies students of the City and Islington Sixth Form college and works for the school as a freelance consultant.
Gisela has worked for the City Lit Institute for over 18 years, as accompanist as well as tutor. Presently, her teaching work encompasses courses in Piano, Singing and Chamber music, and she occasionally works as deputy teacher for Cello.
Gisela’s teaching has been graded "outstanding" (1) in a lesson observation by the college.
Gisela plays and sings regularly in concerts as a soloist, and she is member of several chamber ensembles.
She has accompanied various singers, including Dorothy Ross and Sarah Tynan.
Her latest singing performance took place in March 2020 where she, with Elisabeth Hobbs (flute) and John Alley (pianist of the LSO), performed a song cycle by Jonathan Slade and several songs by Debussy
Gisela occasionally transcribes and arranges music and composes for film.
She also works as freelance accompanist for Hackney Youth Orchestra and play or sings, for church services and concerts. She has experience in choir conducting.
