Adrian Poon completed his Master of Performance with Distinction at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in 2012, studying the clarinet with Janet Hilton and Timothy Lines, supported by the RCM scholarship as well as the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. He started to learn the clarinet at the age of 10. He earned his Bachelor of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2009 under tuition of Andrew Simon. <br />

He is particularly experienced and interested in performing in solo and orchestral music. He was the clarinetist at the Young Virtuosi Festival 2012 giving solo and chamber concerts in France and the UK. He was also one of the finalists in the Concerto Competition at the RCM in 2011 and was invited to play the Tema con Variazioni in the Jean Francaix Celebration Concert. He has received many masterclasses by famous clarinettists including Andrew Marriner, Michael Collins, Michel Lethiec, Romain Guyot. Being fond of orchestral playing, he toured and gave concerts around Asia with the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2007. Since then, he has been a freelance player in some of the professional orchestras such as Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Macao Orchestra. He has played with some of the best known conductors namely Vladimir Ashkenazy, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Francois Xaiver Roth and Okko Kamu.<br />

He is also interested in all kinds of chamber and contemporary music. He has been the clarinetist at the Tropical Winds (trio for oboe, clarinet and bassoon) and he also formed Pacific Trio (clarinet, violin and piano) in 2010 which was one of the finalists in the St. Martinís Chamber Music Competition 2012 and the winner of Ensemble with Piano Chamber Competition at RCM. He has worked with a lot of young composers at their world premiere concerts and recordings in Hong Kong as well as in London.
