Marlena born in 1988 in Poland is an Award Winning and Internationally Acclaimed Percussionist & Teacher.
She started developing her interest in music when she was only 9. As a child she took piano and guitar lessons while participating in various singing festivals and competitions. At 12 years of age she was sent to a Music Secondary Boarding School in Lublin where she started playing percussion. A few years after, in 2005, Marlena decided to study in England, and in 2006 she started a BTEC ND Music course at Leeds College of Music. During this course she got a lot of opportunities to play with various ensembles and groups including classical, contemporary, and popular music genres.

Recently, Marlena graduated from Leeds College of Music with BA(Hons)in Music Performance . She specialises in tuned percussion but is also passionate about multi-percussion and timpani. She is also a session singer working with independent companies around Leeds. Marlena combines both percussion and vocals within groups and as a solo performer. She took lessons and participated in workshops and masterclasses with great percussionists from around the world including: Nippy Noya, Bernard Masseli, Emmanuel Sejourne, Eric Sammut, Juanjo Guillem, Glen Velez, David Friedman, Dave Samuels and for studied under

Dr Damien Harron (BackBeat Percussion Quartet). Marlena works within a wide range of repertoire from classical to contemporary and finds repertoire with African and mixed styles most exciting. One of her most recent projects derives from experimental ideas where she 'live records' percussion and singing, which then leads to experimenting with textures, styles and harmonies.

She performs solo concerts as well as ensemble/group performances, is an active teacher and has toured all over England and Europe.
