Notes:
I am a Singer/Songwriter, who is currently working on my first album. I have worked with a collection of bands, vocal groups and artists, mainly in Leeds, London and Los Angeles.
I take an open approach to singing + the teaching of singing, and I like to work with the individual needs, experience and aspirations of each student, rather than dictate what and how singing 'is'.
I am able to help with relaxation, confidence building, posture, breathing, support, control, note accuracy, harmony, tone quality, projection, dynamics, repertoire, improvisation, songwriting, performance skills, and I am able to advise about voice-related injuries.
I have knowledge, experience and training in Yoga, meditation, counselling, NVC (non-violent communication), EQ (emotional intelligence), Reiki and Massage, and I am able to apply this in my teaching if/when useful.
If you are interested in singing with a group instead of persuing private tuition, I teach 2 leeds-based singing courses and a drop-in vocal group.
I teach the 'FINDING YOUR VOICE' 10 week course at the swarthmore Centre in the heart of Leeds (www.swarthmore.org.uk). This course is aimed at beginner/improver singers wishing to discover, explore + strengthen vocal technique through fun + interactive exercises + songs, in a safe + encouraging environment.
I also teach the 'SING YOUR SONG' 10 week course with the leeds-based Cloth Cat Music Charity (www.clothcatleeds.org.uk). This course is aimed at improver singers who are wising to perform on a stage for the first time/improve performance technique, and is FREE/subsidised by the WEA.
I shall be begining an ongoing WORLD SONG GROUP on Monday evenings, at the begining of 2011, £5/4 conc. and half price for one-to-one students. Please email me for more information ([email protected])
