Grade 8 clarinet
ARSM Performance Diploma - clarinet
Instruments: Clarinet - Bb and A
Genre/Style(s): Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Intermediate

I began playing the clarinet as a child and, after a break, returned to the instrument I love 4 years ago. I have since obtained the ARSM Performance Diploma and am working towards the ABRSM Diploma. I am keen to teach beginners and those who, like me, have rediscovered their clarinet and want to achieve their goal. All ages welcome.

Lessons take place in a dedicated music room in my home and I would travel locally.

I studied music at Ealing Junior Music School between 1974-76 and whilst at Kingston Polytechnic under the tutelage of Walter Wurzburger. During this time I played contrabass clarinet with the West London Wind Orchestra.

During my break from the clarinet I obtained a BSc in Sociology and an MSc in Social Work and had a lengthy career with the Probation Service.

I was a founder member of the North Downs Community Orchestra in 2015 and for the past two years have played with the Central Band of the Royal British Legion - performing at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Windsor Castle (backing Alfie Boe), Southwark Cathedral, Eastbourne Bandstand, the Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium and travelled with war veterans on the HM Boudicca in June 2019 for the anniversary of the D-Day landings. Backing Rod Stewart and performing at the Bayeaux War Cemetary to the veterans and the Duchess of Cornwall were amongst the highlights.
