Biography

I began my guitar studies at the age of 15 at “Spazio Musica” music school in Ragusa, Sicily under masters Fabrizio Licciardello and Francesco Rubino. Thanks to them, I had the chance to participate in masterclasses with Gigi Cifarelli and Osvaldo Lo Iacono.

I graduated with the maximum score of 110 with first-class honours in Jazz Guitar at the G.B. Martini Conservatory of Music in Bologna which included a thesis titled “The Harmony and the Blues Improvisation of Joe Pass”.

In 2009, with singer Santi Ciarcià, Wild Bones was born: a Sicilian band that pays homage to the great blues masters with an exclusively electric sound. With the group, I had the pleasure to play the blues in major international festivals in Italy: Deltablues, Etna in Blues, Blues in Town, Tropea Blues, South Italy Blues Connection which included opening for Moreland & Arbuckle (USA), Sharrie Williams and the Wise Guys (USA), Brian Templeton (USA) and 24 Pesos (UK).

In 2012, Wild Bones won the national finals of the International Blues Challenge 2012, hosted at the 29th edition of Deltablues Festival in Rovigo. With this victory, we represented Italy in the international final in Memphis in the USA from 29th January to February 2, 2013. During our visit, we played in two sacred blues venues: Red’s Juke Joint and the Bluesberry Cafe in Clarksdale. We became acquainted with Mississippi musician Watermelon Slim who had expressed his enthusiasm for the band, following which, we shared the stage in a final exciting jam session.

Wild Bones released their first album: The Road to Memphis in January 2013.

As a session man, I have recorded my version of Someday My Prince Will Come (in Alessandro Rossi‘s first album Invisible Songs published by IRMA Records in September 2012), as well as Rollin’ and Tumblin’ in Strike Rockabilly Band’s third album, Boom Boom.

I currently live in the London area to pursue my career in performance and teaching while sharing my passion for the blues.
