I have been teaching music full time since 2010 in several state run music schools, private music schools and community colleges in Finland. I relocated to Scotland 2017 to work as a music teacher. I have wide experience teaching all aged students from age 3 till adults and seniors - my oldest cello beginner being over 70 years. Previously, working in Tampere, Finland, I was teaching one to one tuition as well as leading cello groups, student orchestras, music theory classes, chamber music classes and a special adult beginners and mixed levels cello ensemble which I started in 2010 and which last year had 12 members. In my teaching I use elements of Suzuki and Kodaly methods which both highlight the importance of building the inner hearing.

I am a enthusiastic musician and performer myself, especially chamber music is very close to my heart. As a teacher I am patient but also able to have clarity in what I say and help the students progress and get the experience of succeeding in their efforts. Over the years of my "toolkit" of methods, games, ideas and scaffolding has expanded which allows the sessions to be exciting and fun in the ways that support the learning.
