Instruments: Clarinet
Genre/Style(s): Classical to Modern
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I am an experienced clarinet teacher for all levels of ability, from children to adults, preparing for ABRSM exams, GCSE and A' Levels or simply playing for fun.

I studied at Royal Holloway, University of London, specialising in clarinet performance and achieving a 2.1. Whilst there, I was principal clarinet in the University Symphony Orchestra and the London Academic Sinfonia. I was also part of a small ensemble that played at a variety of special functions in and around London, including weddings and charity functions. I also achieved the Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in clarinet performance.

Following University, I became a peripatetic clarinet teacher working with students in a variety of private schools in London, Surrey, Somerset and Worcestershire. Schools included King's Bruton, Hazlegrove Prep School, Feltonfleet School, Box Hill School and St Mary's Convent School. I have considerable teaching experience from beginner to advanced and a range of abilities from preparing pupils for all ABRSM examinations, GCSE, A’ Level examinations and music festivals. I also led a variety of small wind ensembles and a school band.

I studied for a PGCE at Oxford Brookes University and have been teaching within a classroom for 13 years whilst bringing up my wonderful family. I am now in the exciting position to both teach in a primary school part-time, whilst playing and tutoring for clarinet.

I am still fully committed to my current school teaching role and feel that my up-to-date classroom teaching skills mean I am confident working with individual, whole classes or even whole schools. I am an enthusiastic, fun and dedicated teacher with only good and outstanding lesson observations throughout my time in teaching. I do feel that being a practising classroom teacher means I have a good understanding of the planning, teaching and assessing that is involved in lessons, adapting to children’s needs and abilities.

I am a member of the Musician's Union, have full insurances, Child Protection training and are fully CRB checked.

I really look forward to hearing from you.
