My name is Guy Rogers and I teach acoustic guitar, 5 string banjo and mandolin. I also teach electric guitar, ukulele and tenor banjo.

A lot of what I do is coaching as opposed to teaching, looking at your current skills then focussing on what you would like to achieve and doing my best to lead you there. I aim to show you how to play and perform music that you can relate to, so your personal choice of material is very important to me.

I'm very keen to show you "how to play" not "what to play", you can then apply those techniques to your own music. Here's a quote from one of my students:
"Guy's supportive and friendly coaching style approach to teaching makes lessons comfortable and opens the way to students to pursue music in their own way."

Acoustic Guitar Tuition
I teach both plectrum and fingerpicking styles including the advanced plectrum style known as flatpicking. This is the most efficient way to use a plectrum and opens the door to playing fast, clean solos as well as great rhythm guitar and cross picking. Electric guitar students also benefit from this technique.

5 String Banjo Tuition
I teach both 3 finger style banjo and claw hammer. I can open the door to playing Scrugg's style bluegrass banjo as well as more advanced styles such as melodic and single string. Or, I can get you playing claw hammer and old tyme banjo styles.

The mandolin requires the same sort of plectrum described above for the guitar. I can have you playing fluently in bluegrass and or Celtic style mandolin as well as blues or jazz.

Why not call me today to see how I can help you progress on your musical journey.
