Notes:
I have gained a varied knowledge and experience of music over the past 15 years from performing in orchestras/bands on the violin, through to studying a degree in music technology. I run my own business providing live music sessions to children under 5.
I have many years experience of teaching privately on a one to one basis and since September 2013 I have been working for The Strings Club teaching groups of children between the ages of 4 and 11.
I am registered as a Teacher Assessor with the ABRSM. I am able to submit students for ABRSM Music Medals (http://gb.abrsm.org/de/our-exams/what-are-music-medals/). These are ideal for younger learners as they are accredited assessments but are presented in a more relaxed manner than an exam. The tests are conducted during their normal lessons and assessed by me. Students can work towards a copper medal once they have learnt 1st fingers (Strings).
I also submit students for graded exams and I have a 100% pass rate.
I have an open minded approach to teaching. I aim to cater for everyone's individual needs, whether you want to take the more traditional approach of ABRSM graded exams or simply play for fun.
I believe that a good knowledge of music theory is essential and therefore incorporate music theory into my lessons if appropriate.
I cater for all ages and welcome parents to sit in on their children's lessons if they wish to do so. I hold a current CRB certificate and have experience of working with all age groups from babies through to mature adults.
