PGCE(Music) Institute of Education, University of London
Instruments: Piano
Genre/Style(s): classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

Over the past fifteen years I have gained experience in piano teaching at the Junior Department of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and more
recently at the City Literary Institute (Adult Education College) in London, where I have been a member of staff since 2006. My Line Manager, at my last observation, considered my teaching to be ‘Outstanding’.

I also teach piano (both in schools and privately) to a range of students, including school children of all ages and abilities. This work has also involved liaising with parents regarding practice and other issues. Since January 2008 I have worked for the Enfield Arts Centre and I have delivered piano lessons at various primary schools.

My experience in teaching music in the classroom has given me an awareness of how piano teaching is linked with the school music curriculum, and a strong sense of responsibility, as I have had to plan, teach and assess lessons at KS3 and KS4. In schools I have also combined the teaching of music and piano with coaching chamber music and I have had on many occasions the opportunity to use my own experience as a chamber music performer.
